ELYSE KNOWLES INSTYLE WOMEN OF THE YEAR 2019 0.JPG

Elyse Knowles has turned heads in an Alin Le' Kal dress at the InStyle and Audi Women of Style Awards. Speaking to the InStyle team, Knowles opened up on how she gets red carpet ready, and how making even the smallest change in your lifestyle can positively affect your eco-footprint.

How do you get ready for a red carpet?

Oh, it’s very different from what I do every day. Every day for me is very minimal. But right now, I’ve employed a makeup artist, a stylist – it takes a team. I’m telling you, it takes quite a few hours.

When it came to picking your outfit for tonight, what was your thought process?

It’s all about finding something that you feel good in, that’s fun. You’ve got to have fun on the night.

This isn’t your first InStyle and Audi Women of Style Awards. Why do you think its such an important event?

I think it's about noticing those people that sometimes don’t get noticed – appreciating what they do. Whether that be what they do in the industry or for their talent. It’s all about appreciating those that are standing out and doing good things for the country, for themselves and for the industry.

Sustainability is such a passion of yours and something your very vocal about. What suggestions do you have for those that want to get involved but are not too sure where to start?

You can start quite simple by trying to help the environment and going on the eco-friendly path. Do your research, even down to the small parts you can do and change your lifestyle, it will have a huge impact. Do a little bit of research and your footprint can help a lot.

To mark the eleventh annual awards, InStyle Australia honour ten inspiring women that bring the message of the awards to life. 2019's line up group of honourees includes leaders in science, business, fashion, social justice, beauty and entertainment, boasting a list of combined achievements that proves style is more than just the clothes you wear.
